safetest / cheapest lift for a noob
« on: March 09, 2010, 06:06:39 PM »
hello everyone, im getting an 06 Z71 soon and im trying to figure out what will be the best way to lift her up. ofcourse the best way would be a full blown suspension kit but i dont have the cash right now, my second thought was a body lift kit but that doesnt really get you any clearence... whats new to me is the tb crank and shackles. it sounds simple enough but from what i read it will cause nightmares down the road ... any advice ?

suspensionmaxx shackles and keys are a good starts, then a body lift and a aal- all that would proably be around 500$ and be like 4-8inch of lift

A body lift gives you more clearance for tires which inturn does lift the truck.I love my body lift. You can crank the stock torsion bars and throw a set of shackles on it for cheap and gain 2-3 inches off that alone.I still don't have a lift kit on mine and will be running 35's sooner or later(hopefully sooner).Do a 2" lift and some 32's and call it a done deal.

I used the Suspension Maxx Jr. keys in mine and have been very happy with the kit.  It included shock extensions for the front, new bumpstops, and a diff drop.  Installed some Warrior shackles in the rear, but it still sits a little low due to the additional lift after I cranked the new keys an inch or so.  This setup clears 33's on the stock wheels right now, and I'm probably into the whole kit about 550 bucks, not counting shipping and an alignement.  I also installed longer shocks in the rear, as the stockers became too short with the shackle lift.  They are KYB's, but I don't remember the part number.  Truck rides alot better now.

Hey Zeuce.I heard people using stock sierra brake lines for the front.Supposed to be longer than the stockers.Do you know if the part numbers for the years are the same?Nobody told me which style to look at.I need some longer lines so I can go out and play in the mud soon. :D

That would have been handy information - would've saved me an hour looking through the shock book... :-\
